From Villa Il Sasseto, the spectacle of Monte Amiata rising over the far flung reaches of the Val d’Orcia lies at your feet. If it can be believed, the views from the pool, set on an higher level than the house, are even more stupendous.
The villa and its two cottages have been painstakingly restored into a remarkable property. All bedrooms have an en suite bathrooms with hair dryers. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and there are three separate sitting rooms. Two hours of cleaning daily, and a mid-week linen change are included in the cost.
The owners have also converted an abbey within a short drive of the villa. There guests can arrange the use of a fax, e-mail, sauna, exercise room, mountain bike, fishing equipment.
Cooking service for breakfast, lunch and dinner may be requested directly on—site with 48 hours advance notice. Better if booked before the arriving.
Sarteano with shops is 15 minutes away by car. Chiusi, within 20 minutes drive, has trains that reach Rome or Florence in an hour and is near the autostrada. Other short drive destinations are Orvieto, Montalcino, Perugia and Arezzo.
Ground floor: living room with fireplace. Kitchen with stove top, oven, fridge and dishwasher. Half bath. Three bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom with shower, one with a queen size bed and the others with two single beds.
First floor: Spiral stairway to a furnished landing with doors to external stone stairs to the grounds. Three bedrooms, each with two single beds and en suite bathroom, two with shower and one with tub and hand shower.
Ground level: Annex with living/dining room. On either side of a small, furnished terrace are two Cottages. One has a bedroom with queen size bed and en suite bathroom, the other has one bedroom with two single beds, and an en suite bathroom with tub and hand shower.
